Having raised my husband who has coeliac disease she understands what is required for a gluten free diet and the dangers of cross-contamination. place to visit in Knaresborough is the Coffee Shop @ The White Rooms.
They are on the High Street just by Superdrugs. From the exterior
you could easily miss the cafe, but it's through the White Rooms,
which is a kitchen supply shop, up the stairs and voila. A very,
very nice little coffee shop. They are Coeliac aware. They make
their own soup, ask first if it's GF but it usually is. They keep
GF bread in freezer, so you can have a sandwich or with the soup.
There are GF biscuits. The usual Jacket Potato, but when it's brought
out to you, it looks amazing. A very nice, large potato, skin crisped
to perfection. Overflowing with chosen filling and surrounded by
a lovely fresh salad. Dressings are never added to your food, they
always ask which you would like and bring it out in a seperate ramekin.

elected onto the local coeliac comittee and has ensured that even
the biscuits and hot chocolate on our hospitality trays are completely
gluten free. We guarantee to Coeliacs that they will be able to
eat everything during their stay with us and find that packed lunches
of quiche, savoury pies and pasta salads are popular, along with
home baked desserts as part of our 3 course dinner menu such as

recommend a very nice hotel where the owners and chef are very sympathetic
to our dietary requirements!
The hotel is the Blakeney Hotel in Heworth, a nice suburb of York
-
about 20 mins walk from the centre of York.
The hotel has 17 bedrooms, all ensuite, and family rooms available.
One of the members of the York Coeliac Group eats at the hotel
regularly and recommended it so some of the other members of the
group decided
to give it a try last Friday. We had a lovely meal - little touches
like gluten free bread made it all the more enjoyable.
The owner was very happy for us to publicise the hotel and asks
that,
if you book a stay with him, please mention that you or someone
in your
party is a coeliac and they will make all the necessary catering
arrangements for you.
